Dub Rap

Right now there is a phase going around of Dubstep music.  Dubstep is a form of electronic music but is not exactly your typical Deadmau5 sound.  When you hear it you automatically know what it is.  Some people live for it and others can’t stand it.  Around 2 months ago at Coachella, I walked into the Sahara tent to find a rapper rapping to this dubstep.  Usually I am not a huge fan of it but I can tolerate it so I listened some more.  When this artist was rapping to the track the DJ was playing, I really started to like it.  This movement of rap plus dubstep, called dub rap is becoming very popular.  A lot more people from more than just the dubstep crowd are listening to it and becoming fans of it increasing the dubstep phase to something that will hopefully last longer.

One of my favorite Dub Rap artists is King Fantastic.  He is from Venice, California and is releasing a new album that is dropping June 15.  King Fantastic has rapped over songs such as “Bass Head” by Bassnectar and “Drive It Like You Stole It” by the Glitch Mob and his list is still growing.

When you hear this type of music, you wonder how people would dance to it at an event.  At least I did.  I soon learned that dancing to this was not a problem and that it was common for everybody to be dancing like this.  One of the many dances is called 2-step.

At EDC this year, I would hope I could see some artist preform this but I’m not sure if any will be in attendance.

  1. I have been previously observing your weblog for the month or so and have found a lot of powerful details. I am starting to own my personal blog however I do believe its too general and I would like to focus more about smaller matters.

  2. It does appear that anyone is into this stuff lately. Don’t genuinely understand it however, and yet thanks wanting to make clear it.

  3. Book marked your websites. Appreciation for giving. Surely valued at the time away from my personal reports.
